This Toolkit has been developed to support organisations across the Queensland community services industry to prepare for future business success by undertaking a critical assessment of their business models.
The Toolkit is made up of three tools to support organisations to review their current capability and plan for their future. It aims to assist organisations to navigate their way through reforms and their unique circumstances. Together, the tools are intended to help drive and maintain continuous improvement, efficiency and ongoing operational resilience within the organisation.
The tools take into account the diversity of the community services industry and are suitable for any community organisation, irrespective of their location, size, service type or history.
The three tools within the Toolkit each have their own purpose:
- Strategic Review
Review your organisation’s strategic vision and service delivery focus and identify key weaknesses, strengths and future opportunities.
- Strategic Capability Assessment
Assess the suitability of your organisation’s business model to meet the challenges of today and of the future
- Capability Development Plan
Develop an action plan (based on the information gathered in Tool B) to strengthen your organisation’s operations and services

The Toolkit is designed to be one of the resources you use to build a strong foundation for the future.
Completing the tools will help you construct your organisation’s story and plan for the future. Your commitment to the process and outcomes will contribute to your readiness for change and your ability to support the Queensland community into the future.
The journey forward for each organisation will be different. Returning to these tools on a regular basis as part of an ongoing improvement process and identifying resources to support you to respond to your identified priorities will support organisational development.
